About MJ Piano Lessons

MJ Piano Lessons was created in 2018 by Justin McKee.

Justin is an experienced teacher who enjoys delivering comprehensive, enjoyable learning experiences. 

 

Enjoyable learning 

 

Music students are ultimately the directors of their own learning pathway. This makes things more enjoyable for everyone! A teacher's role is to facilitate the development of each student according to their goals, interests and stage of development. 

 

Beginner students for any instrument have less choice around the music that they play because of the carefully sculpted, step-by-step process of onboarding a vast array of new knowledge and skills. The rate at which a beginner develops their mastery is impacted by many things, including how much time they dedicate to practising. 
 

Parents sit through lessons! 

 

Parents and guardians are expected to sit through lessons and enjoy the experience just as much as students! This helps to keep parents informed, keep communication channels open and is part of MJ Piano Lessons commitment to maintaining a safe and supportive environment.

Creative learning opportunities

My piano students are equipped to have the necessary depth of understanding to express themselves through their craft thanks to our approach of incorporating both technical and theoretical components into their lessons.

 

Students who commence their musical journey with Justin will not need to take extra musicianship or theory lessons at later stages in order to meet the minimum requirements for their AMEB practical exams because they are incorporated into every lesson.  

 

Students studying other instruments outside of our studio can take up specialised theory and musicianship lessons to help them prepare for their AMEB, Trinity College, High School Music or other exams. Both subjects compliment developing composition studies.

Supportive and friendly environment 
 

Piano teaching takes place in a friendly, comfortable environment with ample space for parents and guardians who stay to enjoy the lesson. 

 

All students receive weekly teacher notes and homework as well as an end-of-year report help guide their ongoing development. 

 

The music teacher Justin McKee has an up-to-date, Working With Children Check number and parents and guardians can verify these through the NSW Government's online portal by clicking here.
 

Parents and guardians can request a formal or informal meeting to discuss their child's lessons and progress at any time.

Historical information

MJ Piano Lessons was created by Justin McKee in 2018 and was originally called MJ Music Studios. The name change occurred in 2021 after marketing analytics revealed that the name was predominantly attracting customers seeking electronic recording studio sessions or locations.
