We are thrilled to announce that Justin McKee, the founder of MJ Piano Lessons, has been awarded the prestigious 2025 MTA NSW Excellence in Teaching Award for Community Engagement. This significant honour was presented at the Music Teacher Matters Conference on October 12, 2025, celebrating Justin's profound dedication to creating an inclusive and accessible music education landscape across New South Wales.
The award recognises Justin's innovative work, particularly in developing teaching methods that empower neurodivergent learners. His approach, built on years of experience and personal insight, champions a learning environment where every student can thrive.
By focusing on individual strengths and fostering self-expression, he has transformed the educational experience for countless students who may not fit traditional learning models.
This recognition also highlights his extensive community impact, from establishing music programs for underprivileged students in London to training hundreds of music tutors across Sydney and Newcastle in inclusive teaching strategies. His commitment extends to creating performance opportunities that build confidence and celebrate diversity.
"A huge thank you to the Music Teachers' Association of NSW for this incredible honour," Justin says. "And to the wonderful students, teachers, and families who inspire me everyday to strive for deeper understanding, continuous improvement and the joy of sharing knowledge."
This award is a testament to the power of passionate, innovative teaching and the belief that music is for everyone.
