23 Jan 2022 - Response to managing COVID-19

Updated: Feb 18, 2022

On 23 January 2022, the NSW Government announced its COVID-19 advice for parents, students and children. The advice includes mandatory rapid antigen testing and mask-wearing for children 12 years and over.

Justin McKee, Piano Teacher for MJ Piano Lessons will commence delivering piano lessons for Term 1 2022 on Monday 31 January 2022 and will be taking a rapid antigen test before the first lesson for the year and twice per week for the first four weeks of the term, echoing the requirements mandated for teachers and students in NSW schools. "If the teachers and students in NSW schools are required to do this, it seems logical that I should do the same," says Justin McKee. "I am committed to helping keep the community safe as much as I reasonably can. I feel lucky to have already received my booster shot last last year on 17 December 2021. "As always, the age-old rule will continue in 2022, if you're unwell, whether it's COVID-19 or not, stay home! "I will be continuing to offer online lessons to anyone who reasonably needs them. "We learned in 2020 and again in 2021 that online lessons worked very effectively, including those who sat for AMEB and Year 10 Music exams. All of them were awarded Honours, demonstrating an excellent level of resilience, as well as musical excellence," says McKee.

The current conditions of entry to MJ Piano Lessons will continue for 2022 until further notice. These conditions were set 15 Dec 2021 and maintained from 24 Dec 2021:

  • Complete a COVID-Safe check-in each visit.

  • Comply with the capacity limit of 4 people (1 person per 4 square metres)

  • Practise good hand hygiene. Hand sanitiser has been made available in several locations throughout the teaching space.

  • Wear a face mask if you are 12 years of age or over. If you have arrived at lessons without a face mask, a mask will be provided to you.

  • Allow for the piano keyboard and any other common surfaces to be cleaned down in between lessons.

Justin McKee, Piano Teacher for MJ Piano Lessons has been fully vaccinated and received his booster shot on 17 December 2021. A copy of his vaccination certificate is permanently on display at the check-in point and visitors can request to see the digital certificate at any time.
