NSW will start to reopen from Monday 11 October 2021, the Monday after the 70% double vaccination target has been reached. At this point, it will be possible for some students to return to face-to-face lessons.
MJ Piano Lessons' policy on returning to face-to-face lessons
MJ Piano Lessons is a registered COVID Safe business and like any other business in NSW, must be prepared to welcome back customers in a COVID Safe way and is responsible for taking reasonable steps to prevent unvaccinated people entering the premises.
From Monday 11 October 2021, students and parents who should be fully vaccinated and are vaccinated, can choose to return to face-to-face lessons if they choose to, however it is not compulsory. Anyone who does choose to return for face-to-face lessons will be required to follow some safety precautions, in line with the NSW Government's 'COVID-19 Stay Safe Rules':
complete a COVID-Safe check-in each visit.
staff, students and parents must provide vaccination evidence, and may be fined $1,000 for not complying in the event that the premises is checked by NSW Ministry of Health Authorised Officer.
comply with the capacity limit of 4 people (1 person per 4 square metres).
wear a face mask if you are 12 years of age or over. If you have arrived to lessons without a face mask, a mask will be provided to you.
allow for the piano keyboard and any other common surfaces to be cleaned down in between lessons.
The NSW Government states that Vaccination Evidence includes:
presenting your COVID-19 digital certificate via the Service.NSW app
an online immunisation history statement
a COVID-19 digital certificate from the Australian Immunisation Register
a medical exemption, which includes either:
a medical contraindication certificate or
a medical clearance form.
The NSW Government states that you are not fully vaccinated if you have had:
only one dose of a COVID-19 vaccination or
no doses of a COVID-19 vaccination.
The policy was established after consultation with students and parents and is in line with the 2020 policy that also gave students the flexibility and freedom to return to the piano teaching studio environment when they were most comfortable and ready to.
Justin McKee, Piano Teacher for MJ Piano Lessons has been fully vaccinated. A copy of his vaccination certificate is permanently on display at the check-in point and has been provided to students via email (22/09/21 and 03/10/21).
